Eylan Health is a low volume, highly accessible, fee-for-service medical practice that takes a proactive approach to meeting your medical needs. We utilize Electronic Medical Records and a secure Patient Portal to improve efficiency and provide cost effective care. We also provide classes to improve your health literacy so that you can take a more active role in your care and feel empowered to make healthcare decisions. We offer same day or next day appointments, no waiting room time, longer office visits, and comprehensive care packages.
Will you work with my Naturopath/Chiropractor/Acupuncturist?
Absolutely!   We value the input of all providers and therapeutic modalities as we each play a role in facilitating you achieving exuberant health. I am not only happy to work with any other practitioner, but I may also refer you to them if I believe that they can more effectively address your concerns to facilitate your health goals. I will also provide you with my opinion regarding the efficacy or potential risk(s) associated with any treatments they may suggest or provide as it relates to your condition.
Are you accepting new patients?
Yes.   Everyone is welcome. In an effort to remain efficient and accessible, the number of active patient slots are limited. Once all the slots are filled, a waiting list will be available and priority will be given to those on the waiting list. Please be advised that to best serve you, it is not advisable to use the first appointment to address emergent needs.
How do I become a patient?
Please visit the home page and follow instruction under the New Patient heading.
How do I make an appointment?
If you are an established patient you can make routine, non urgent appointments via the Patient Portal after logging in.
If you are a new patient, please follow the instructions under the New Patient heading on our homepage.
What are Electronic Medical Records?
An electronic medical record (EMR) is a collection of health information about an individual patient that is stored in an easily retrievable and shareable format. EMRs usually includes information about medical history, family history, social history, medications, allergies, laboratory test results, radiology images, vital signs, personal statistics like age and weight, and billing information. Since the information is in a single file, it can readily be queried to look at what works medically or does not for a single person, the efficacy of medications, and even the degree of success with certain protocols.
What if I need help with the Preliminary paperwork?
If you need help completing the preliminary paperwork, please contact our office. Help is always available
I am having problems with the Patient Portal.   Can you help?
Except for forgotten passwords which you need to request at the Patient portal, if you are having trouble accessing the secure Patient Portal, copying your patient records or obtaining information from your electronic Medical record, please call us.
What if I have questions outside an appointment, after hours or on weekends?
My commitment to you is to be accessible by email or phone for urgent questions or concerns. For emergencies - Please call 911. You can call me after you are stable. Never delay obtaining emergency treatment.
    During office hours:
  • I will answer your call if available, but if I am with another patient:
    •     Please leave a message on the answering machine, or send a message via the Patient Portal. I will address your concern as soon as I am able.
    •     For time sensitive, non urgent, or non life threatening concerns - Please leave a message on the answering machine or send a message via the Patient Portal.
» Both are checked multiple times a day during working hours.

    After hours and Weekends:
  • For non urgent, non life threatening concerns, you can send a message via the Patient Portal.
Where can I get more information about my condition?
The Resources section of this website provide Links to selected sources of information about various medical conditions. A good rule of thumb when seeking medical information online is to visit government run websites (NIH, CDC, FDA, etc) or those of large well known medical facilities (Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic). Links are provided to many sources under the Resources tab under Links.

About Osteopathic Medicine

What type of doctor are you?
I am an Osteopathic Physician (DO) who trained alongside MD physicians at Michigan State University. We (osteopathic physicians) receive the same training as a traditional MD, but in addition, have also had hundreds of additional hours of training in osteopathic diagnostic techniques and manipulative medicine, similar to chiropractors. After training, we are fully licensed like our MD counterparts, and can be found in many locations and in subspecialties in medicine.
What is Osteopathic Medicine?
Osteopathy medicine is a healing modality whose philosophy emphasizes that "the body has an innate ability to heal itself" and "the whole person must be treated" to achieve healing. Osteopathy recognizes the individual as an integrated unit, wherein all aspects contribute to disease or wellness of whole, rather than as a collection of discrete organ or body systems functioning independently. Osteopathy has been around for > 100 years and has maintained its basic tenets and integrated the principles of modern medicine into its armamentarium to provide comprehensive health care for patients. Please go to our Resources page to read more about Osteopathy.
What is Osteopathic Manipulation?
Osteopathic manipulation is a system of treatment used to resolve tissue restrictions that inhibit blood and lymph flow and nerve function. By understanding and respecting the complex interactions between body systems and the interrelations of structure and function, osteopathic physicians can diagnose and treat areas or restriction with manipulation to restore optimal function and remove barriers to healing. Many techniques are employed based on the condition present. Please go to our Resources page to read more about Osteopathy.
When is Osteopathic Manipulation helpful?
Routine osteopathic manipulation is beneficial for improving and maintaining the full range of motion and flexibility of the multiple joints and tissues in the body. Osteopathic manipulation is also helpful in treating many specific muscle and joint issues as well as chronic conditions including , but not limited to:
  • Muscle strains - back, hip, shoulder
  • Overuse injuries
  • Whiplash
  • Restricted joints
  • Medial and lateral epicondylitis (Golfer's elbow and tennis elbow)
  • Sciatica
  • Ankle strain/sprain
  • Sinusitis
  • Nasal congestion
  • Acid reflux
  • Headaches - tension and migraines
  • Vertigo and dizziness
How does OMT compare to Chiropractic and Craniosacral Therapy?
Both Chiropractic and Craniosacral therapy are derived from Osteopathy. Osteopathic Medicine differ from both Chiropractic and Craniosacral therapy in many regards including the level training, the scope of practice and the techniques performed. Please visit Maine Osteopathic Association for the best description I have found about all three modalities and how they compare to each other.
